Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2 Netflix: premieres tomorrow with Hideo Kojima cameo

The anime Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2 Netflix premieres tomorrow, October 20, 2026, exclusively on the platform. The CD PROJEKT RED and TRIGGER production brings a new standalone story in Night City and includes the return of Hideo Kojima as the character Hideyoshi Oshima.

What happened?

The 10-episode series, directed by Kai Ikarashi, features a new cast: Weak Kingsley, a veteran edgerunner seeking purpose; D, a nomad on a path of revenge; Roman Carax, a filmmaker; and Talia Yang. The opening uses The Cure's "10:15 Saturday Night", while the ending is "Watson" by Petite Meller. The score is by Tsuneo Imahori, known for Trigun.

Hideo Kojima confirmed the cameo as Hideyoshi Oshima, the braindance director who appears in Cyberpunk 2077 during The Heist mission at Konpeki Plaza. The character has Kojima's likeness and voice. The official announcement came from the anime's X account (@edgerunners) and was confirmed by Kojima himself.

Why is this important?

The first season of Edgerunners was a massive success and helped rehabilitate Cyberpunk 2077's reputation. The sequel maintains the partnership with TRIGGER and explores themes of family, obsession and legacy in an even rawer tone. Kojima's cameo directly connects the anime to the game and generates hype among fans of both franchises. According to the official site, it is a standalone 10-episode story.

What changes in practice?

All 10 episodes become available at once on Netflix starting October 20. The official site cyberpunk.net/edgerunners2 has more details. Fans can expect references to the game universe and the continuation of TRIGGER's distinctive visual style. The series is produced in collaboration between CD PROJEKT RED and TRIGGER, with script by Bartosz Sztybor and Masahiko Otsuka.
