Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos remaster arrives October 29

The remaster of Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos launches on October 29, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC on Steam and GOG. Argonaut Games announced the date and Gematsu reported it. Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos completes the return of the duology that started with the 2025 remaster.

What happened?

Croc 2 is the 1999 sequel to the 3D platformer Argonaut already revived in 2025 with the remaster of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos. This time the yellow crocodile leaves the island for the mainland to find his birth parents after discovering a message in a bottle. The trip becomes a showdown when Baron Dante, revived by the Dantinis, vows revenge.

The game keeps the original structure and updates the presentation. There are four villages with distinct Gobbo cultures: coastal Sailor Village, wintry Cossack Village, prehistoric Caveman Village and mountaintop Inca Village. More than 40 open-ended stages include a triple jump, cars, speedboats, minecarts, a hang glider and an airplane. Argonaut describes the package as the same game, not a reboot, with updated visuals and comfort tweaks.

Why it matters

The first remaster showed there is still an audience for Argonaut's mascot, one of the names that helped define console 3D in the 1990s. Croc 2 was the wider chapter: hubs, missions and vehicles instead of island hopping alone. Having Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos on current machines, across major digital stores, completes that return.

The most unusual extra is the Croc2pedia, a digital museum with design documents, marketing material, animation tests, cut models and interviews with the original team and the remaster developers. No dedicated Switch 2 edition has been announced for launch; the listed version is Nintendo Switch.
