Cookie Run: OvenBreak x Sanrio Collab Begins Sept 23

Devsisters has confirmed that Cookie Run: OvenBreak is teaming up with Sanrio characters starting September 23, 2026. The season runs until October 26 and introduces six playable cookies: My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin, Pochacco, and Hangyodon, each paired with a matching pet.

This update celebrates OvenBreak's 10th anniversary and revisits the Sanrio universe eight years after the game's first collaboration, which featured Hello Kitty back in 2018. This time, all six characters were selected from the official 2026 Sanrio ranking.

What's Coming to the Game

Alongside the new cookies and pets, the Autumn Camping event unlocks character-specific minigames and a limited illustrated lobby once players complete the camping zones. There is also the 'Sanrio Characters Breakout' relay mode, where players pick a team of six cookies to run sequentially.

Exclusive cookie and pet combinations activate the 'Friends Power-Up'. Event currency, Acorn Medals, are tallied every Sunday at 8 AM and can be exchanged in the collab shop for cookies, pets, and costumes.

What is the Friends Level?

To lower the progression barrier, Devsisters has introduced the Friends Level system. It takes the lowest level among your three strongest Sanrio cookies and automatically upgrades the rest of the collab cookies to match that tier in main event modes. In practice, players who already have a well-developed trio won't need to grind all six from scratch to enjoy the limited-time content.

Why It Matters

OvenBreak is a 2016 mobile runner that continues to pull off major crossovers. Sanrio remains one of the most prominent IPs in Japan and South Korea this year. Combining the two for the game's decade milestone is a clear hook for both loyal veterans and lapsed players returning just for the skins.

Additionally, the in-person Cookie Run Grand Festival takes place in Seoul on October 24 and 25 at Children's Grand Park—marking the offline anniversary event separate from the in-app collab.
