Cells at Work Dental is the new Hataraku Saibō spin-off announced in Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Sirius November issue. Koma Warita and Kawede Sakaki's series starts October 26 and relocates the battlefield inside the mouth.
What happened?
Per Anime News Network, Sirius called the mouth a stage with “its own secrets.” Warita previously wrote Cells at Work! Medicine, which ended in 2025.
Akane Shimizu's original ran 2015–2021 and spawned bacteria, baby, Code Black, platelet and cat spin-offs. The cat series ended in March 2026. Kodansha USA licenses most of the family in English.
Why it matters
The franchise turned immunology into accessible shonen. A dental stage — enamel, gums, plaque, cavities — extends the educational action formula that powered the 2018 anime.
