The free Castlevania Belmont's Curse demo is now available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Konami's official page says it covers the opening chapter and that the save can carry into the full game on October 15, 2026.
What happened?
Castlevania: Belmont's Curse is a 2D action-exploration game set 23 years after Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. It follows Rose Belmont and Trevor Belmont through a 1499 Paris overrun by creatures, with the Vampire Killer whip at the center of the hunt. Motion Twin and Evil Empire, the studios tied to Dead Cells, are developing it for Konami.
The demo page lists 60 frames per second on supported platforms, except Nintendo Switch, locked at 30 fps. Minimum install sizes are about 6 GB on PS5, 3 GB on Switch, 5 GB on Xbox Series, and 4 GB on Steam. Text languages include Brazilian Portuguese, English, Japanese, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and Korean.
Why it matters
The series is returning to a faster 2D exploration format, and the Castlevania Belmont's Curse demo lets players test the combat before October's crowded release window. Konami says demo progress moves to the full game if both versions are on the same platform and account, the demo save is kept, and the full version is updated.
Outlets such as Nintendo Life reported that the Switch build appeared to approach 60 fps when played on Switch 2. That is not an official dedicated Switch 2 edition. Konami's spec sheet still lists 30 fps for Switch.
What changes in practice?
- The demo is free and covers the start of the campaign.
- Progress can continue in the October 15 game under Konami's account and platform rules.
- Some features are restricted in the demo.
- Pre-orders or early purchases of editions were also tied to an Alucard-style costume for Rose Belmont, according to RPG Site.
The official demo page is at konami.com. The game site is Castlevania: Belmont's Curse.
