Castlevania Belmont's Curse arrives October 15: Rose Belmont in medieval Paris

Castlevania Belmont's Curse arrives on October 15, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch and PC. Konami announced the new 2D action-exploration game developed by Evil Empire with Motion Twin consulting, marking the series' return with the new protagonist Rose Belmont.

What happened?

Set in 1499, 23 years after Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, the story follows Rose Belmont, daughter of Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades. In medieval Paris, monstrous creatures emerge from the shadows as Dracula's castle manifests in the heart of the city. Rose wields the legendary Vampire Killer whip to investigate the conspiracy behind the events.

Castlevania Belmont's Curse combines fast combat with enhanced whip mechanics, an Arcana system (tarot cards obtained from defeated bosses such as Death, Medusa and Carmilla) and non-linear exploration in the style of Symphony of the Night. It supports 60 fps on most platforms (30 fps on Switch). Editions include Standard and Midnight, the latter with a digital art and music gallery.

Why is this important?

Castlevania Belmont's Curse is the first major original launch of the franchise in over a decade, since Lords of Shadow 2. The collaboration with Motion Twin (known for Dead Cells and the Return to Castlevania DLC) and art by Katsuya Terada bring freshness to the classic series. The release date coincides with the 40th anniversary of the Castlevania franchise.

What changes in practice?

Fans will be able to play the new Castlevania Belmont's Curse Metroidvania on multiple platforms starting October 15. Pre-orders are already available on official stores, with bonuses such as costumes inspired by Trevor, Sypha and Alucard. The Nintendo Switch version launches the same day as the other main platforms. More details on Konami's official site.
