The Attack on Titan universe has secured an official new date for fans to celebrate every year. The franchise's official portal announced that September 9 has been officially recognized as Attack on Titan Day by the Japan Anniversary Association, referencing the exact day the original manga began its serialization.
According to the special anniversary page, choosing 9/9 also ties directly into one of the series' most iconic elements: the Nine Titans. This milestone kicks off a global campaign featuring 99 announcements related to the series, compiled in a special edition published on the official website.
What the Franchise Revealed on Attack on Titan Day
Among the officially confirmed highlights are a commemorative visual featuring the Nine Titans, a brand-new illustration by Hajime Isayama, the launch of an official Attack on Titan YouTube channel, and a special promotion making 99 chapters of the manga free for 99 hours on the Magazine Pocket app.
The special page also confirms exciting new projects for fans, including the theatrical return of Attack on Titan Part 1 -Guren no Yumiya- on October 23, 2026, in ScreenX, 4DX, and ULTRA 4DX formats, alongside the return of Attack on Titan THE LAST ATTACK in 2027 with its first-ever ScreenX screening.
Why This Matters
This announcement turns a date already symbolic to fans into an institutional franchise landmark. Far more than a one-off celebration, Attack on Titan Day streamlines future releases, activations, and re-releases, proving just how relevant the property remains long after the conclusion of both the main manga and anime adaptation.
It is also striking how this celebration bridges manga, anime, cinema, merchandise, and gaming into a single coordinated event. Among the items listed on the page is a brand-new opening visual for Attack on Titan 3, an upcoming Koei Tecmo game featuring animation produced by MAPPA.
