The ArcheAge Chronicles demo lands free on PC from October 19 to 26 as part of Steam Next Fest 2026. South Korean studio XLGAMES, behind the ArcheAge universe and published by Kakao Games, confirmed the window in a Steam post on Thursday, October 1.
What happened?
The ArcheAge Chronicles demo runs from October 19 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time (2:00 p.m. in Brasília) until October 26 at the same hour. Any Steam account can download it with no extra signup. Progress does not carry over to Early Access.
The slice is set in Diamond Shores, one of Auroria’s early regions. Four classes are playable: Warrior, front-line melee built on weight and pressure; Ranger, mobile ranged damage; Berserker, high-risk aggression; and Mage, elemental bursts and crowd control.
For the first time in a public build, the demo includes PvP. Life systems such as housing and trade are not included. The studio says the focus is combat, class identity and story, with the social economy saved for Early Access. That Early Access date has not been announced.
Why it matters
ArcheAge Chronicles is the next generation of the open-world MMORPG XL Games built around exploration, sailing and player conflict. Executive producer Ham said, in material shared by the studio, that the goal is to value exploration and cooperation as much as competition, with combat that is easy to learn and a world that rewards curiosity.
Steam Next Fest is Valve’s week of demos. For an MMORPG still without an Early Access date, the ArcheAge Chronicles demo is the first wide chance to test combat against other people.
