ARC Raiders and The Finals get series and films with Chernin

ARC Raiders and The Finals are heading to film and TV. Variety reported on October 5 that Chernin Entertainment, the film and television division of The North Road Company, was chosen among several producers and will be lead producer on series and movies for both Embark Studios games. Embark is owned by Nexon. No cast, showrunner or premiere date has been announced.

What was confirmed

Patrick Söderlund, Nexon executive chairman and Embark founder and CEO, said the deal is the next step in turning both games into transmedia experiences, and that Embark's creative teams will work closely with Chernin. David Ready, Chernin's president of film, called the titles global IP with franchise potential across film and television.

Variety says Chernin won a competition for the rights. The exact shape of each project, whether one is a series and the other a film or both get both formats, was not detailed beyond the statement that there are series and movies for both games.

How big the games are

The same report says ARC Raiders has sold more than 16 million copies since launching in October 2025, won best multiplayer at The Game Awards 2025 and the BAFTA Games 2026 multiplayer award, plus online game of the year at the D.I.C.E. Awards. Its largest update so far, Frozen Trail, debuts October 7. Free-to-play The Finals has passed 30 million players in three years. Season 12 arrives October 20.

Chernin's credits, per Variety, include the film Backrooms, which grossed more than $400 million worldwide on a $10 million budget, and the Apple TV series Chief of War. None of that indicates a budget or window for the Embark adaptations: that has not been disclosed.
