Nurumeta Anime Gets 2027 TV Adaptation Directed by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2's Kai Ikarashi

Aniplex revealed on October 18, 2026, that the Nurumeta anime (also known as Null Meta), adaptation of Kokamumo's manga, will receive a TV series scheduled for 2027.

What happened?

The announcement of the Nurumeta anime at 9 PM Japan time clarified the identity of a previously teased "mystery" new anime that Aniplex had promoted with the code NLMT. The official site (nlmt-anime.com) and X account confirmed the production and released a teaser visual.

The work is a 4-koma serialized in Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara MAX since March 2020, with six volumes released so far. It is described as an "alternative slice-of-life" or the "singularity of everyday anime," focusing on the android (nullroid) Kurumi, her guardian Chiaki, the calm and easily amused Sakina, and the only (apparently) sensible Shiyuki in unpredictable high-school daily life situations.

Staff and production

Kai Ikarashi, known for directing Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 (recently premiered on Netflix), is directing the Nurumeta anime — his first full TV series as director. Series composition is by Tatsuya Takahashi (credits including The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls). Character design is by Shin/Makoto Ogasawara (Pokémon: Twilight Wings). Animation is by Soigne studio (mono, Kamiina Botan, Yoeru Sugata wa Yuri no Hana).

Original author Kokamumo commented thanking readers and looking forward to seeing the "clumsy, comical, and endearing" everyday scenes of Kurumi and friends animated. Cast, exact premiere date, broadcaster, and streaming details have not yet been announced.

Why it matters

The Nurumeta anime combines the quirky Kirara 4-koma style with Ikarashi's visual talent (coming from a major Netflix action/sci-fi hit) and Soigne, known for more experimental slice-of-life work. Relevant for fans of everyday anime seeking something outside the usual formula and those following the Aniplex ecosystem.
