Ace Combat 8 sales have surpassed 1 million copies sold worldwide roughly one week after the official launch, according to Bandai Namco.
What happened?
The game Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, released on October 2, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam), with early access from September 29 for the Deluxe Edition, became the fastest title in the 30-year series to reach this milestone.
The information was shared by the publisher through official statements and social media. The game is also the second-best reviewed entry in the franchise on aggregate sites, behind only Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies (2001).
Why it matters
Ace Combat is a niche arcade flight shooter with a dedicated fanbase. Its predecessor, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown (2019), remains the series best-seller (around 7.5 million). Such rapid Ace Combat 8 sales point to pent-up demand and strong reception.
