The official Yu-Gi-Oh! anime YouTube channel has released a special one-and-a-half-minute animation to mark the first-ever original art exhibition by creator Kazuki Takahashi. In the video, Yugi and his friends reunite in Domino City, complete with a special appearance by the Blue-Eyes White Dragon.
Produced by the franchise's anime production committee, the short serves as a teaser for the Takahashi Kazuki Gengaten YU-GI-OH! ART WORKS exhibition, which opens on December 12, 2026, at the CREATIVE MUSEUM TOKYO and runs through February 21, 2027.

What happened?
The official exhibition website and the anime channel confirmed the premiere of the animation on Monday (14) in Japan. The showcase celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump between 1996 and 2004, marking the first time Takahashi's original artworks have been gathered on this scale.
The collection features over 370 original manuscripts, color illustrations, reference materials, and sketches—some of which have never been shown to the public before. The exhibition path is divided into five zones that follow the progression of the story, according to the official site and reports from Comic Natalie and Crunchyroll News.
Why it matters
Yu-Gi-Oh! is much more than a 2000s anime. Takahashi's manga spawned Konami's official trading card game, one of the longest-running TCGs in the world, alongside a powerhouse franchise that continues to receive new anime, games, and merchandise. An original art exhibition acts as a creative archive for the series, offering fans a firsthand look at how monsters, puzzles, and duels first came to life on paper.
While the special animation doesn't announce a brand-new movie or television season, it reinforces the fact that the classic Domino City universe remains at the heart of the brand's official legacy, even decades after the original serialization ended.
In practice
Tickets for the exhibition require a reserved date and time slot. December tickets enter a lottery starting September 14 via eplus. Announced prices are 2,200 yen (general), 1,400 yen (high school), and 900 yen (elementary school), alongside a special goods bundle tier priced at 3,900 yen.
In parallel, Shueisha is running a free manga reading campaign on Jump+ and Zebrack through December 11. The exhibition merchandise store has also revealed new items, including a rotating acrylic stand featuring Yugi and Yami Yugi, a calendar, and an eco-bag inspired by the Millennium Puzzle.
What this does not mean
There is currently no confirmation of an international tour or plans to expand the animation into a larger special. For now, the promotional material celebrates the Tokyo exhibition and honors the 30th anniversary of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! manga.
