NIS America announced on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, that Ys VIII Switch 2: Lacrimosa of DANA is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 on February 25, 2027.
What happened?
This new version of Falcom's action RPG features support for up to 120 frames per second, GameShare co-op functionality, and Spanish language support for the very first time. The announcement trailer highlights performance upgrades and the ability to play with friends via GameShare.
The game is already available on the original Switch, PlayStation, and PC. The Ys VIII Switch 2 port promises to leverage the new hardware for much higher frame rates.
Why it matters?
Ys VIII is widely regarded as one of the finest entries in the Ys franchise. Few games on the Switch 2 run at 120 FPS, and the addition of GameShare expands local multiplayer options. This release significantly strengthens the action RPG lineup on Nintendo's console in early 2027.
