Yamato 3199 has just dropped its main trailer and key visual for the seventh chapter of Yamato yo Towa ni: REBEL 3199, globally known as Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 3199. Titled Nijiiro no Rinne (“Rainbow Reincarnation”), the theatrical film premieres in Japanese cinemas on October 30, 2026, marking the grand finale of the seven-part theatrical series.
What happened?
Bandai Namco Filmworks published the promotional materials on its official website and YouTube. The Yamato 3199 key visual was illustrated by Nobuteru Yūki, character designer for the franchise since Yamato 2199. The artwork features Susumu Kodai, Sasha, Yuki Mori, and Alphon, accompanied by the taglines "Even if everything is a lie" and "The feeling is eternal."
In the trailer, Yuki Mori shouts "Arizona, launch!" while Kodai calls out for Sasha. MANTANWEB highlighted these lines as setting the emotional tone for the finale. Advance tickets (Mubichike) featuring a main visual poster go on sale in Japan starting September 18.

What does this mean?
Yamato 3199 does not follow a standard TV broadcast schedule. Instead, it consists of 26 episodes split across seven theatrical films in Japan, mirroring the release model of Yamato 2202 and 2205. The first six chapters rolled out between July 2024 and June 2026. Crunchyroll streams the episodic version in select territories, with 22 episodes already live when the trailer dropped.
The story draws inspiration from Be Forever Yamato (1980) and Yamato III, featuring a fresh interpretation by writer and supervisor Harutoshi Fukui. Naomichi Yamato directs the project, with animation by Satelight, backed by GeyeG Pictures and YANCHESTER. The voice cast stars Daisuke Ono as Kodai, Houko Kuwashima as Yuki, and Megumi Han as Sasha.
Why does Yamato 3199 matter right now?
Fans following this reboot since 2199 (2012) are reaching the finish line of a more than decade-long journey. The seventh chapter wraps up 26 episodes specifically crafted for the big screen—a rare format today, even in Japan. Fans watching exclusively via Crunchyroll do not yet have an international release date confirmed for the final Yamato 3199 arc.
