Xreal Aura arrives: Android XR glasses with launch discount starting at $1,099

Xreal Aura has arrived: the first wired XR glasses powered by Google’s Android XR and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Reality Elite. Pre-orders opened on October 28, 2026, with shipping expected mid-November, and a launch price starting at $1,099 (instead of $1,279) through December.

What is Xreal Aura?

Xreal Aura is a pair of lightweight extended reality (XR) glasses (under 95 grams) with transparent Sony Micro-OLED lenses (1200p at 120 Hz, field of view around 70-95 degrees). Heavy processing happens in a portable puck connected by cable, running Android XR and enabling use of Google Play apps, Gemini, and specific XR experiences like the NBA App, Fallout: Factions, and Project Hail Mary.

Initially available in the US, Canada, South Korea, and Japan (from November 2 in Japan). Configurations: 12GB RAM + 256GB for $1,099 at launch ($1,279 regular) and 16GB + 512GB for $1,299 ($1,499 regular). Official sources include the Google blog and TechCrunch.

Why does it matter?

Xreal Aura marks the commercial debut of Google’s Android XR glasses, positioning itself as an alternative to Meta products with a focus on productivity, entertainment, and lightweight spatial computing. The puck architecture reduces on-head weight and allows more power, while Android ecosystem integration eases access to existing apps and services. In a still-maturing smart glasses market, the discounted launch and quick availability could accelerate adoption.

The product arrives amid growing interest in AI and XR hardware for everyday use.
