Witch and Mercenary Anime Premieres in April 2027 With Main PV and New Cast

Bandai Namco Filmworks confirmed this Wednesday that the Witch and Mercenary (Majo to Yōhei) anime will premiere in Japan in April 2027. Along with the release date came the first full PV, two new key visuals, and three additional cast members.

What Happened?

The announcement was made on the series' official website and reported by Anime News Network and Crunchyroll. The production joins the lineup of NTV and 29 other affiliated stations, as well as the BS NTV satellite channel.

The newly announced voice actors are Yuri Noguchi as Isana Gihon, a rank-2 swordsman nicknamed “Snow White”; Hiromu Mineta as Alan Clows, a party leader and rank-4 swordsman; and Haruka Shiraishi as Elicia Armel, a rank-3 adventurer who uses a staff and wears an eyepatch.

Who Was Already Confirmed

Taito Ban stars as Zig Crane, the mercenary. Saori Hayami voices Siasha, the witch everyone wants dead. The series is directed by Shinpei Ezaki (Vivy) at studio 8bit. Taishirou Tanimura handles series composition, Keita Matsumoto designs the characters, and Rei Ishizuka composes the music via Lantis.

What Is the Story About?

On a continent where magic and monsters have nearly vanished, the witch remains a symbol of terror: capable of flooding cities or burning countries to the ground. Siasha survives yet another assassination attempt and sets off with Zig in search of a place where she can live in peace. The unlikely pair faces lost magic and forgotten creatures that the rest of the world has left behind.

Kaeru Chōhōkiteki's light novel series originated on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2021. Micro Magazine publishes the volumes illustrated by Bench Kanase, with the eighth volume released on September 24. A manga adaptation by Makoto Miyagi runs in Magazine Pocket, and Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the English version.

Why It Matters

The April 2027 release window narrows down the vague "sometime in 2027" release frame, locking it firmly into the spring anime season. The main PV and cast additions indicate that production has safely moved past the teaser phase.
