A new collaboration visual has brought together two science-fiction films opening in Japanese theaters in November 2026: Armored Trooper VOTOMS: Die Graue Hexe and Expelled from Paradise: Resonance of the Heart. The joint image, revealed on October 28, 2026, places the two worlds side by side just weeks before their premieres.
The first part of Die Graue Hexe opens in Japan on November 20, 2026. It is the newest entry in the Armored Trooper VOTOMS franchise and part of Sunrise's 50th anniversary projects. Mamoru Oshii, known for Ghost in the Shell, directs and co-writes the script with Kei Yamamura; Sunrise produces, with assistance from Production I.G. Set near the end of a 100-year conflict between Gilgamesh and Balarant, the story follows officer Maki Stauffenberg as she investigates Ash Vamps, a penal soldier who has survived battle after battle and is nicknamed the “Witch”. Mabuki Ando voices Maki and Miyuki Sawashiro voices Ash.
Expelled from Paradise: Resonance of the Heart opens in Japanese theaters on November 13, 2026, one week earlier. It is the sequel to the 2014 film, directed by Seiji Mizushima, written by Nitroplus' Gen Urobuchi, with character designs by Masatsugu Saito and animation by Toei Animation. The story follows agents from the virtual society DEVA sent to Earth after a deserter faction known as the Fallen, in a tale linked to the events of the first film. The cast includes Ayane Sakura as Gabriel, Saori Hayami as Arma, Yoshino Aoyama as Daniel, Sally Amaki as Raguel, Sumire Morohoshi as Penem and Rie Kugimiya as Angela Balzac.
The collaboration visual works as a double warm-up: instead of promoting only one film, it underlines that November packs two science-fiction premieres with distinct pedigrees — a classic mecha franchise on one side, and a long-awaited sequel to a 3DCG film on the other.
