Vertiv launches SmartIT, a ready-built platform for AI data centers

Vertiv announced on October 26, 2026, the SmartIT platform, a pre-engineered, factory-validated infrastructure solution for high-density artificial intelligence deployments. The solution is available now worldwide for enterprises, research institutions and colocation providers, in existing facilities and new data centers.

Based on NVIDIA MGX and Open Compute Project (OCP) ORV3 architectures, SmartIT combines rack infrastructure, DC power conversion and distribution, direct-to-chip liquid cooling, in-rack cooling distribution and monitoring in a single design. According to the company, validating these systems before shipment reduces on-site integration and limits commissioning work to connections with the facility's infrastructure.

The platform supports NVIDIA GB300 NVL72, NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72, NVIDIA DGX Rubin NVL8 and NVIDIA HGX Rubin NVL8, and scales from a single rack to multi-rack deployments without redesign between phases. Vertiv says the same building block can turn older facilities and commercial buildings into AI-ready spaces without full reconstruction.

SmartIT had previously been deployed with NVIDIA for the DGX GB300 system, and a demo unit with NVIDIA HGX Rubin NVL8 was shown at GTC Berlin in October. As complements, the company cites SmartRun for row-level integration, rack power distribution units (rPDU) and Unify for integrated monitoring, analytics and control, including leak detection.

Why it matters

“AI is fundamentally changing the demands placed on data center infrastructure,” said Scott Armul, Vertiv's chief product and technology officer, defending a factory-validated architecture that brings power, cooling and IT together. The central promise, however, comes from the vendor: shorter timelines and lower complexity still depend on each customer's installation, workload and building.
