Uber deploys ChatGPT Work to all 30,000 employees

Uber announced the deployment of ChatGPT Work, OpenAI's enterprise agent, to all of its more than 30,000 employees worldwide. The expansion, revealed on October 22, 2026, starts from an initial pilot with about one thousand collaborators.

What happened?

According to OpenAI's official blog, ChatGPT Work becomes the first agentic knowledge-work platform deployed at scale in the company. The agent connects to tools such as Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar and Slack, enabling research, briefing preparation, presentation creation and data analysis.

The default model is GPT-6.1 Sol, chosen for balancing frontier performance and cost. Uber will also have access to multimodal capabilities, including voice and image generation. The deployment includes an internal AI skills library, approved integrations and training for operations, finance, marketing and product teams.

Why it matters

The move illustrates the accelerated adoption of AI agents in large technology and service companies. The previous pilot showed use by non-engineers (about 80%) in tasks such as operational analysis and material localization. OpenAI highlights the partnership as an example of how frontier models can be applied to complex workflows.

There are still no public details on measurable productivity gains at full scale or deployment costs.
