The Sift is Minecraft's first new dimension in more than 14 years. Mojang confirmed players can enter it from September 29 in Minecraft Dungeons II, and that in 2027 the same world comes to Java Edition and Bedrock Edition.
What happened?
The official announcement ran on Xbox Wire on September 26, timed with Minecraft Live. The dungeon-crawler sequel launches September 29 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, including Game Pass. The Sift is the fourth realm after the Overworld, the Nether and the End.
What is The Sift like?
Early in Dungeons II, strange events break the Overworld's order. The Sift has a colorful look, hazardous blocks, shifting tides, and confirmed biomes such as Meadows and Carapace. Illagers invade the dimension to exploit resources and souls.
Why The Sift matters
A full dimension in the main game changes exploration, building and survival. Mojang is using the spin-off as a lab. There is still no exact 2027 date.
