Team17 announced The Escapists 3 on October 8, 2026, during the Triple-i Initiative. The prison-escape sequel is due in 2027 for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2. An exact date has not been listed on the Steam page.
What the sandbox promises
The game moves from the more schematic view of earlier entries to a 3D sandbox. The pitch is still to study the routine, watch the guards, take jobs, earn cash and turn junk into an escape plan. Players can dig, climb, disguise themselves, fight and improvise. Team17 describes five distinct prisons, each with routines, characters and secrets, plus what lies beyond the walls: forests, canyons, catacombs and water.
There are more than 120 items and weapons to loot and craft. The inmate earns XP, unlocks skills and can customize the cell. Multiplayer supports two players in local split-screen or up to four online.
The official Steam page lists Team17 as developer and publisher. Price and a tighter window inside 2027 have not been confirmed.
