FromSoftware announced on Thursday, October 29, 2026, that The Duskbloods, its exclusive for Nintendo Switch 2, has been delayed to 2027. The game, originally planned for this year, now has a broader release window with no exact date.
What happened?
In an official statement on social media, the developer of Elden Ring and Dark Souls said the title is in the final adjustment stage but decided to move the launch to next year. The main reason is feedback from the network test held in August 2026.
“During the network test, we saw active interest in the core concepts of the game, including combat, strategic depth, and player expression. To further enhance these aspects, we have decided to move the launch, allowing time for final adjustments to game rules and balancing,” FromSoftware said.
The company apologized to fans waiting for the game in 2026 and thanked them for their support. The Duskbloods was revealed in the Switch 2 Direct in April 2025 and is a multiplayer PvPvE game for up to eight players, directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki.
Why does this matter?
As a Switch 2 exclusive, the delay directly affects Nintendo’s launch lineup for the new console. FromSoftware games are usually carefully polished, and the extra time could result in a more balanced experience, especially in a multiplayer title with soulslike elements, jetpacks, and dinosaurs.
The game combines aspects of battle royale, extraction, and multiplayer scoring in a gothic steampunk atmosphere. The network test showed high interest, surpassing even that of Elden Ring Nightreign in some internal metrics, according to reports.
What changes in practice?
Players who planned to play The Duskbloods still in 2026 will have to wait. There is no specific month or quarter announced for 2027. FromSoftware had already delayed the Elden Ring port for Switch 2 (Tarnished Edition), which arrived in August 2026 after performance adjustments.
Fans should watch for new announcements from Nintendo and FromSoftware in the coming months. Meanwhile, the Switch 2 continues with other titles, such as the 40th anniversary edition of Zelda.
