Terranigma 2027 now has a worldwide date: January 14, 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. Clear River Games locked the calendar with Square Enix.
What happened?
The Swedish publisher had only said “early 2027.” Quintet’s 1995 Super Nintendo action RPG now has a day. The modern version keeps Kamui Fujiwara’s pixel art and adds Arranged Mode with higher magic damage, a mini-map, save anywhere, quick magic, item hot-swap, remappable controls, rewind, a CRT filter and a music player.
Physical editions: Standard ($39.99 on PS5/Xbox, $44.99 on Switch 2), limited Foiled via Clear River and Limited Run, SteelBook at $64.99 and Gaia Edition at $199.99 — Yomi statue, Pandora’s Box music box with “Elle’s Theme,” 200-page art book, pin, CD and cloth map.
Why it matters
Terranigma 2027 is the first official Western re-release. The SNES cart and imports were the only path, even though the game sits on 1990s JRPG shortlists. Square Enix backing pulls the classic out of limbo without an emulator.
In practice
Veterans stay in Classic. Newcomers use Arranged Mode and QoL so they are less likely to get lost in the hollow-Earth overworld. Switch 2 Standard and Gaia use a physical game card, not only a Game-Key Card.
