TAITO Milestones 5 announced for Switch with Space Invaders and Sagaia on January 28, 2027

TAITO announced on October 29, 2026, TAITO Milestones 5, the fifth collection of arcade classics in the series, for Nintendo Switch. It is set to launch on January 28, 2027, in physical and digital editions, with Clear River Games publishing it in the West.

The collection brings together 10 games from TAITO's arcade catalogue, from 1978 to 1990, developed with the collaboration of Hamster Corporation, known for the Arcade Archives series. They are:

  • Space Invaders (1978)
  • Marine Date (1981)
  • Land Sea Air Squad (1986)
  • Arkanoid: Revenge of DOH (1987)
  • Plump Pop (1987)
  • Extermination (1987)
  • Final Blow (1988)
  • Crime City (1989)
  • Sagaia, three-screen version (1989)
  • Hat Trick Hero, also known as Football Champ (1990)

Two names carry most of the selection's appeal. Space Invaders, the 1978 phenomenon that paved the way for arcade shooters, returns as the collection's starting point. Sagaia — the international version of Darius II — appears in its three-screen version, presented as the format's first home conversion, with the Silver Hawk facing waves of enemies and giant bosses.

The collection includes quality-of-life features: players can save anywhere, play with a friend in local couch co-op in several titles, and choose text in English, Japanese, French, Spanish, Italian and German. According to announcement coverage, Arkanoid: Revenge of DOH and Marine Date will also support USB mouse controls on Switch.

On price, the digital edition costs $29.99 / €24.99 and the physical edition $39.99 / €34.99, according to Clear River Games via Gematsu; in Japan, the price is 5,720 yen, with a CERO B rating. In Japan, reservations opened on announcement day, and stores such as Amazon.co.jp, ebten and the Square Enix Store offer a special CD with music from the games and a paper case shaped like a Space Invaders upright cabinet that holds all five volumes of the series, in limited quantities.

To celebrate the announcement, TAITO will also hold an event with Game Center Mikado in Takadanobaba, with cabinets featuring the collection's games and an official Space Invaders tournament — the first in about 10 years, according to the official announcement.
