STEINS;GATE Octet of Shifting Space is reaching Western storefronts. Spike Chunsoft is publishing MAGES' 2011 retro adventure on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and PC. International listings such as Gematsu point to September 28, 2026.

STEINS;GATE Octet of Shifting Space is not a multiple-choice visual novel. It recreates the text parser of 1980s PC adventures. You play as Rintaro Okabe in Akihabara and type English commands to recover the missing IBN 5100.
The official question is: what if STEINS;GATE had been built for an 8-bit PC? The UI mimics old monitors, with retro display modes and FM-style audio. Current platforms support on-screen and USB keyboards.
Why it matters
The original shipped only for Windows XP, Vista and 7 on October 28, 2011. This is the first time STEINS;GATE Octet of Shifting Space reaches consoles and Steam in the West.

Japan already had console versions on August 20, 2026. Spike Chunsoft announced the Western release at Anime Expo in July. Buying STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT on Steam through November 30, 2026 (Pacific) includes STEINS;GATE Octet of Shifting Space as a bonus. Spike has also listed October 29 for that bonus.
