Steam Next Fest 2026 with record demos
Steam Next Fest 2026, which started on October 19 and runs until October 26, features 8,202 demos, more than double the previous year. The record volume of Steam Next Fest has brought concerns about AI-generated games.
About 20% of demos disclose AI use
Approximately 19.5% of demos (around 1,704) carry generative AI disclosure, according to Engadget data and event analyses. Players complain of “AI slop” making it harder to discover quality games in Steam Next Fest.
Many are requesting a filter on the Steam platform to hide AI titles. Valve has required disclosure since 2024, but offers no native filter. Developers also fear rapid clones made with AI.
