State of Play September 2026: What to Expect from Sony & Konami's Press Start

The September 2026 State of Play arrives this Thursday (3) with a packed schedule: Sony streams its showcase in the morning, and just a few hours later, Konami takes the stage with its own event, Press Start. Both announcements land just weeks ahead of Tokyo Game Show 2026, promising to heat up the holiday season on consoles.

State of Play: Final Fantasy VII Revelation in the Spotlight

According to the specialist outlet Insider Gaming, Sony's broadcast for this September 2026 State of Play will be split into two parts: a 'traditional' State of Play featuring games from Western and third-party partner studios, and a State of Play Japan, hosted by Yuki Kaji and focused on productions from Japanese and Asian developers. The headline act is an extended gameplay showcase of Final Fantasy VII Revelation. Rumors also point to a potential appearance of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Naughty Dog's new project, though Sony has not officially confirmed its presence. The event takes place shortly before the launch of Marvel's Wolverine and will serve as a showcase for what's next on PlayStation starting in 2027.

Press Start: Castlevania, Silent Hill, and a New Franchise

Roughly two hours after the State of Play, it's Konami's turn to take the virtual stage with Press Start, a roughly 30-minute showcase streamed on YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, and TikTok. According to VGTimes, the company has already confirmed updates for Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, slated for an October 15 release, and Silent Hill: Townfall, arriving on September 24. Also on the lineup are Rev. NOiR — a brand-new franchise — the mysterious Project Zircon, and updates for eFootball Kick-Off on the Nintendo Switch 2.

Konami has warned that there will be no news regarding the Silent Hill remake during this presentation. Even so, the company has publicly signaled its intention to continue investing in the horror franchise over the coming years.

How to Watch

Both streams are free and will be available on Sony and Konami's official channels. With two major events happening on the same day, player expectations are soaring for this September 2026 State of Play — and the rest of the month promises to be action-packed even before Tokyo Game Show kicks off.
