Shinjuku Anomaly launches on Steam today, Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 10:00 JST. AMATA Games, the indie label of AMATA K.K., publishes the short horror visual novel in which the player takes a night job photographing anomalies in Shinjuku.
What it is
There are four rules. If you see an anomaly, photograph it. Get close enough. Do not get too close. If you run out of film, go back. The official Steam text and AMATA's release state the game is fiction and has no connection to real people, incidents or organizations.
The Japan price is 500 yen including tax. Outside Japan the store lists about US$ 3.99. There are multiple endings. Languages are Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
Theme and collab
The theme song is Hyakkiyakou by loud girls group YAMIKUMO. It appears in the trailer and the ending. AMATA also released a lyric video in which the members appear as anomalies in the game world.
