Shadow Monarch arrives in Overwatch with five Solo Leveling skins

Shadow Monarch arrived in Overwatch on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, as the Solo Leveling collab of Season 5, A Grim Doctrine. Blizzard confirms five hero skins and a limited window from October 6 to 19 in the official season post.

What happened?

The partnership is called Overwatch x Shadow Monarch and brings hunter and Shadow Army looks to the current roster. It is not a battle pass: it is a separate collection with its own end date, according to the Overwatch blog.

  • Genji becomes Sung Jinwoo, the lead who climbs from the lowest rank to command the Shadow Army.
  • Reaper becomes Igris, the former red commander who returns as a shadow soldier.
  • Anran becomes Cha Hae-In, an S-rank hunter.
  • Reinhardt becomes Iron, a former A-rank hunter who returns in the shadow force.
  • Lifeweaver becomes Choi Jong-In, an S-rank mage and guild master.

The credit on the official post is Solo Leveling Animation Partners. Blizzard describes the collab as a dark-fantasy gate inside the Halloween season, alongside the new support Doctrine, the Grímsvötn map and Sombra's move to support.

Why it matters

Solo Leveling is one of the Korean series with the widest reach outside Korea, and Overwatch is using that recognition for a season that already mixes a vampire, a volcanic prison and a Halloween event. Shadow Monarch does not cover the whole season. Players who want the skins need the short window.

Secondary outlets cited a run through October 26. The official Overwatch blog, in the collab section, says October 6 to 19. Until Blizzard corrects the post, the official date is the reference.

What changes in practice?

The Shadow Monarch skins are cosmetics. They do not change the kits of Genji, Reaper, Anran, Reinhardt or Lifeweaver. The Tech Witches collection, with D.Mon, Shion, Juno, Sierra and Jetpack Cat, starts October 9 and runs through October 26, in another storefront of the same season.
