Samsung ramps Exynos 2700 2nm production for the Galaxy S27

The Exynos 2700 has moved past sampling into wafer volume production at Samsung Foundry. Digitimes reported on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, that Samsung is ramping front-end manufacturing of the second-generation 2nm processor. Korean outlet The Elec had already reported on October 2 that volume production had begun for the Galaxy S27 line.

What happened?

Industry sources cited by The Elec said Samsung's Mobile eXperience division locked the Exynos 2700 volume for the Galaxy S27 base, Plus and Pro models and started front-end wafer production. Volume is said to be more than 10% higher than the Exynos 2600, partly because the line adds a Pro model. The Galaxy S27 Ultra still has no settled chipset, according to the same report, as summarized by GSMArena.

The chip uses SF2P, Samsung Foundry's second-generation 2-nanometer process, with Gate-All-Around transistors. Versus the first-generation SF2 node used on the Exynos 2600, Samsung attributes to the node 12% more performance, 25% lower power and 8% less area. Those figures describe the process, not a public Exynos 2700 benchmark.

Why it matters

Samsung has split processors by region since the S26 generation. The Elec indicates the S27, S27 Plus and new S27 Pro should use the Exynos 2700 in South Korea and Europe, and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 in the United States and China. The three-to-four-month cycle from wafer start to packaged chip fits an early-2027 S27 launch, with no official date.

Earlier reports cited by GSMArena mention internal tests in which the Exynos 2700 was about 9.5% ahead of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 in Geekbench multi-core, with Snapdragon still ahead in single-core. That is not a result published by Samsung or Qualcomm and should be read as a leak, not an official spec.

What changes in practice?

  • Exynos returns at higher volume in the main line, pulled by the S27 Pro in Korea and Europe.
  • The S27 Ultra remains open: it may repeat the regional split or stay Snapdragon-only.
  • SF2P is the real test of Samsung Foundry's second-generation 2nm node in a mass-market phone.
