The Roblox Prompt-to-Avatar beta arrived in Studio to allow generating Roblox-ready 3D avatars from text descriptions, facilitating character creation without manual modeling.
What happened?
On October 29, 2026, Roblox announced on the DevForum the Prompt-to-Avatar beta in Studio. Creators describe a character in text, refine a 2D concept, and generate the 3D model with R15 or Advanced R15 rigging. It is possible to choose built-in clothing or a modesty layer, and static or dynamic heads.
Accessories are not generated in this beta, even if they appear in the 2D concept. The feature has Studio MCP support for agentic workflows. Generation takes 3 to 6 minutes.
Why does this matter?
Creating game characters requires time and specialized skills. Prompt-to-Avatar uses automation to speed up tedious steps while keeping control of style and intent. It is part of larger improvements, including future Prompt-to-Animation.
Roblox has already reported that more than 80% of the top 100 games use AI to accelerate creation. This tool expands access for creators without 3D modeling experience.
What changes in practice?
Creators enable the beta in File → Beta Features and use Avatar Setup → Build Avatar (Beta). Structured prompts improve results, such as specifying style, proportions, and colors. The beta is for testing; publishing live games based on it is not yet recommended.
