Roblox AI Build: 70,000 games and 80% of top titles use AI tools

The Roblox AI Build is at the center of the third-quarter 2026 report. The company used the shareholder letter to celebrate what it calls an “inflection point” in AI adoption for game creation. According to the company, AI tools are driving an “explosion of content” on the platform.

What the numbers show

More than 80% of Roblox’s top 100 games (by hours engaged) used AI tools to accelerate creation in the past month. Daily asset uploads to the Roblox cloud tripled in the period. Two games created almost entirely with AI — Break and Steal an Egg and Huss Valley — entered the top 20 by concurrent players.

The Build tool from Roblox AI, launched in alpha in July in New Zealand, Singapore, Serbia and Thailand, has already been used by more than 500,000 people who published over 70,000 games. More than 75% of these users had never opened Roblox Studio. Time spent on AI tools among top creators tripled since Q2, and daily MCP server usage grew nearly fivefold.

Financial context

While the company highlights AI, the financial numbers mix growth and decline. Revenue rose 16% year-over-year to $1.572 billion. Bookings fell 12% to $1.697 billion compared with an exceptionally strong Q3 2025. Average DAUs stood at 138 million (down 9% year-over-year but up 12% from the previous quarter). Hours engaged totaled about 34 billion.

CEO David Baszucki stated that “AI is fundamentally reshaping the gaming industry, driving a step function change in the pace at which content can be created.” The company maintains its goal of capturing 10% of the global gaming market.

Why this matters

The contrast with Steam is direct. While Valve recently acknowledged the “AI slop” and clone problem in Steam Next Fest, Roblox treats the abundance of AI-generated content as a competitive advantage. The platform bets that its social distribution (friends inviting friends) and discovery tools will filter volume better than traditional stores.

Roblox Build is still in limited alpha. When it expands to more regions, volume could grow further. Roblox also announced initiatives such as Roblox Everywhere (exporting games outside the platform) and Universal Player (importing existing games into the Roblox cloud with AI help).
