Roblox Everywhere: Platform Games Become Standalone Apps on Mobile, PC, and Consoles

The Roblox Everywhere initiative, announced at the Roblox Developers Conference 2026, allows creators to publish experiences as standalone apps across mobile, PC, and consoles. The infrastructure remains powered by Roblox, but players no longer need to open the main platform app to jump into a game.

Founder and CEO David Baszucki described the vision in the official RDC announcement: bringing games directly to where audiences already are, with Roblox operating as the underlying engine and service.

What happened?

The browser player is set to launch by the end of 2026. On Chrome, clicking an experience link will launch the match instantly with zero installation required, with other browsers rolling out later. Practically speaking, a YouTube video, an X post, or a friend's email can turn into an instant click-to-play experience, according to TechCrunch.

The company also confirmed a solo offline mode designed for the subway, airplanes, or poor connections. Creators will be able to offer this offline mode alongside live multiplayer. Full availability is slated for mid-2027, with early access coming soon.

What does this mean?

For years, Roblox was a walled garden: you create, publish, and players experience content inside Roblox. With Roblox Everywhere, the company is transforming into a distribution engine as well. Creators get their own storefront showcase, while Roblox continues to take its cut from cloud services, accounts, and infrastructure.

This completely shifts how games are discovered. Instead of relying solely on the platform's homepage, a hit game can now live as an app on a mobile app store or as an instant link in Chrome.

AI for those who never opened Studio

The Build tab in the Roblox app lets users assemble games simply using prompts. Following its alpha test in New Zealand, the feature is expanding to Serbia and Singapore. According to the company, around 9,000 games were created via Build by September 1, 2026, and 71% of those publishers had never used Roblox Studio before.

The Scene Generator is also arriving later this year, turning text and reference images into playable layouts that can later be refined in Studio. Other additions include orthographic cameras, sprites, and an interface tailored for 2D games and puzzles—a genre the platform previously barely covered.

In practice

For casual gamers, the journey is now shorter: click and play, without downloading a heavy client. For full-time Roblox developers, the bet is on reaching audiences outside the bubble and getting paid faster. The company reports that creators earned approximately $1.7 billion in the 12 months leading up to June 2026. The Roblox Wallet, scheduled for independent U.S. creators aged 18 and older later this year, promises real-money payouts every business day. The Roblox Card, used for spending balances, is slated for 2027.

In the last quarter, the platform recorded 29 billion hours played across more than 180 countries, according to Baszucki's official post.

What it doesn't mean yet

There is no fixed release date for standalone apps on every single storefront, nor is there a guarantee that a famous game will launch simultaneously across mobile, PC, and consoles. Features vary by age group and region. Furthermore, "standalone" does not mean abandoning Roblox: the engine, user accounts, and a large portion of monetization remain anchored in the company's ecosystem.
