What happened?
Capcom launched today, October 16, 2026, the digital versions of the remakes for Resident Evil Switch 2, including Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition for the Nintendo Switch 2. The games are available on the eShop with a 20% early adopter discount until November 7.
Physical editions arrive on January 29, 2027. The titles run natively on Switch 2, bringing the full modern Capcom remake experience to the portable console.
Why is this important?
The simultaneous launch of the three most acclaimed remakes in the series marks a significant expansion of the survival horror catalog on Switch 2. Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition includes the Separate Ways DLC and additional content, while RE2 and RE3 deliver the classic Raccoon City campaigns with updated graphics and modern controls.
For players who didn't have access to console or PC versions, or who prefer portable play, this is the chance to experience the games that redefined the genre in recent years with Resident Evil Switch 2.
What changes in practice?
With relatively contained file sizes, it's possible to download all three titles without excessively occupying Switch 2 storage. The launch discount lowers the entry price, making it easier to buy multiple games. Early reviews, such as those from Digital Foundry and Nintendo Life, indicate that the versions approach the quality of previous platforms, especially RE4.
Fans can now relive (or discover) the saga of Leon, Claire and Jill anywhere, with the power of the Switch 2.
