Capcom confirms the digital launch of the Resident Evil Switch 2 remakes, including Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition, for Nintendo Switch 2 on October 16, 2026. Physical editions are planned for January 29, 2027, with early adopter discounts until November 7.
What happened?
Capcom officially announced that the three Resident Evil remakes will be available on the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop starting tomorrow. Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition includes the base game plus a DLC pack with costumes and the Samurai Edge weapon. Resident Evil 3 arrives in the base version, while Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition brings Ada Wong’s Separate Ways campaign and extra content.
Regular US prices are $39.99 for RE2 Deluxe, $29.99 for RE3 and $49.99 for RE4 Gold. Launch discounts are 25%, 33% and 20% respectively, valid until November 7. Physical versions arrive on January 29, 2027.
Why is this important?
These native Resident Evil Switch 2 versions fill important gaps in the series on Nintendo hardware. Resident Evil 2 and 3 only had cloud versions on the original Switch, while the Resident Evil 4 remake debuts for the first time on Nintendo hardware. The ports take advantage of Switch 2 hardware, including DLSS support for better image quality in docked mode.
What changes in practice?
Switch 2 players will be able to play the three Resident Evil remakes natively, without relying on cloud streaming. Downloads total about 56 GB. Early adopter discounts make the Resident Evil Switch 2 package more accessible until early November, coinciding with the Halloween season. The January physical editions offer an option for collectors who prefer physical media.
With the launch tomorrow, the Resident Evil series gains a complete presence on Switch 2, allowing fans to relive Raccoon City and the Spanish village anywhere, with quality enhanced by the new generation hardware.
