Resident Evil: six games each sell 3 million copies in one year, Game File says

Resident Evil is still selling like a living catalog. A Game File report by Stephen Totilo, picked up by outlets such as Insider Gaming and GamesHub, says six games in the series cleared 3 million copies each between July 1, 2025 and June 30, 2026.

The numbers

Resident Evil 4 Remake, released in 2023, leads the window with more than 5 million copies in that period. Resident Evil Village adds 3.6 million. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard hits 3 million nine years after launch. The remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 sit near 4 million each.

The sixth 3-million title is not broken out the same way in every write-up. Reports also cite Resident Evil Requiem, which Capcom had already placed above 8 million in cumulative sales since February 2026. Older ports still move: Resident Evil 6 on PS4 and Xbox One passed 500,000 in the same 12-month slice.

What it means

This is not an official Capcom fiscal-year ranking. It is Totilo's reading of sell-through in that window. It still underlines the publisher's pattern: remakes keep earning years after launch, and the catalog does not depend only on the newest release.

On the historical tally, the Resident Evil 2 remake had already passed Resident Evil 5 as the series best-seller, with about 19.75 million units through June 30, 2026. The franchise as a whole crossed 213 million units and overtook Final Fantasy in the comparison cited by the press in July.

What comes next

Capcom is working on a Resident Evil Code: Veronica remake, expected in the next fiscal year. Requiem continues its post-launch cycle. Totilo's snapshot matters less as a single record and more as proof that Resident Evil now works as a catalog machine.
