Resequence: The Orchard gets a Steam demo: occult visual novel from Clearrave and Re,AER

Japanese studio Clearrave has put up the demo for Resequence: The Orchard, an occult horror visual novel due on Steam in 2026. AUTOMATON WEST detailed the release on October 9. The demo runs about an hour and is Japanese-only for now. The studio says it is considering other languages for the full game.

The script is by Re,AER, developer of Magical Girl Witch Trials, which AUTOMATON notes passed 500,000 copies and 25,000 reviews in under a year. Illustrations are by fracoco.

What the demo shows

The story follows Kisuke Saito, a psychiatrist who, ten years after his wife’s disappearance, takes a job as a school counselor. Sessions reveal unexplained phenomena tied to the students’ trauma. The plot branches across more than five perspectives, including colleague Aislinn Conlin, and leads to different endings based on choices.

The demo includes two sections: “Record of Circumstances Leading to Working As a Student Counselor,” centered on Saito, and “Counselling: Session 1,” about student Sogo Soyogi. The full game’s Steam page is app 4102120; the demo is app 4846720.

The studio warns that the text covers heavy themes, with notices for suicide, psychologically disturbing scenes, violence, injury, and death, without gore. There is no day-specific release date, only a 2026 window on Windows.
