Qualcomm has released the Adreno Neural Fusion SDK, a development kit that brings AI upscaling and frame generation to Snapdragon GPUs, allowing mobile games to deliver sharper and smoother graphics with lower energy consumption.
What happened?
The Adreno Neural Fusion (ANF) SDK combines temporal super resolution and AI frame generation. The technology reconstructs high-resolution images from half-resolution renders using depth data, motion vectors and camera jitter, similar to NVIDIA DLSS or AMD FSR, but optimized for the mobile environment. The SDK is publicly available on Snapdragon Game Studios GitHub and offers native support for Vulkan, plugins for Unreal Engine 5 and Unity 6.6 or higher.
Why does this matter?
Smartphone games face severe battery and heat dissipation constraints. With Adreno Neural Fusion, developers can render internally at lower resolution and still deliver full-resolution output with doubled frame rate. This improves perceived performance and energy efficiency without perceptibly sacrificing visual quality for the player.
What changes in practice?
Studios already have integration and debugging tools, including overlays to visualize motion vectors and depth. Titles like Honkai: Star Rail, War Thunder Mobile and others are among those being prepared to adopt the technology. Users of phones with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 or higher should notice sharper graphics and smoother experiences as soon as the games are updated.
Current support is limited to the latest chips, with expansion planned for previous platforms. Developers can access the SDK, samples and documentation in the official repository to start integrating.
