Project SEKAI 2028 is not a server shutdown. Colorful Palette and SEGA confirmed on the 6th-anniversary livestream of Project SEKAI COLORFUL STAGE! feat. Hatsune Miku that each unit's main story will wrap in early 2028 — and that the game continues on two new tracks.
What happened?
During Proseka Hoso Kyoku 6th Anniversary Special on September 24, 2026, Yuichiro Kondo of Colorful Palette outlined the schedule. Official account @pj_sekai posted the same notice that day.
Only each unit's main story ends, after banner events and an epilogue. Around the 3rd anniversary the team already said the arc had a planned ending and was about halfway through.
Why it matters
Project SEKAI 2028 moves a long-running Hatsune Miku rhythm game from a formation-arc live service into a second editorial phase. The five units get an official epilogue instead of an endless main story.
What changes in practice?
- After Story: the timeline continues toward graduation, unit by unit.
- Another Story: off-screen and in-between events.
Tatsuya Kitani wrote the 6th-anniversary track Emerald. A digital single arrives September 30, 2026 with Kitani's vocal and a Hatsune Miku version credited to Konnichiwa Yatasan.
