GTA 6 Preload Starts November 10 and Requires Up to 212 GB

The GTA 6 preload has been moved forward by Rockstar Games. In an official announcement on November 3, 2026, the studio confirmed that the digital download for Grand Theft Auto VI begins on Tuesday, November 10, nine days before the November 19 launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This change to the GTA 6 preload helps fans prepare better.

What happened?

Rockstar advanced the originally planned date of November 12. On PlayStation 5, the GTA 6 preload starts at midnight local time in each region. On Xbox Series X|S, it begins globally at 12 a.m. GMT on November 10 (which is 9 p.m. BRT on November 9 in Brazil).

The preload file can take up to 212 GB depending on the console. Code-in-box versions arrive in stores starting November 12. More information is available in the official Rockstar announcement.

Why does this matter?

With one of the largest downloads in Rockstar history, players need to free up space in advance to avoid queues and storage issues on launch day. The earlier GTA 6 preload date gives digital pre-order holders a two-day head start.

Rockstar also announced that on November 19 the official site will release a free downloadable cover poster and map of Leonida. A double-sided physical poster will be available in the Rockstar Store for $0.99 or free with any purchase.

What changes in practice?

Players with digital pre-orders can start the download on November 10. Those with code-in-box versions must wait for the code to arrive from November 12. In both cases, roughly 212 GB of free space is essential for the GTA 6 preload.

The official launch remains November 19, 2026. Details on how to start the preload are available on the Rockstar support site.
