What happened?
Chinese developer S-GAME confirmed that the long-awaited wuxia action RPG Phantom Blade Zero will launch digitally on October 28, 2026 at 7 PM PT / October 29 at 10 AM Beijing time for PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store). Pre-loading opens two days earlier. PS5 physical editions (Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate with steel case) arrive only in 2027.
Built in Unreal Engine 5, the game promises high-speed combat inspired by Hong Kong kung fu cinema, authentic motion capture and the “Kungfupunk” style — a fusion of traditional wuxia, fantasy and modern elements. Protagonist Soul has only 66 days to live to uncover a mystery in the Wulin world.
Why is this important?
Phantom Blade Zero is one of the most anticipated titles of the year in the oriental action RPG niche, highlighting the rise of independent Chinese studios on the global stage. The physical edition delay reflects common production and logistics challenges in large multiplatform launches, prioritizing digital to maximize immediate reach.
The launch trailer and official X post amplified the hype, with millions of views and strong community engagement expecting fluid combat and deep narrative.
What changes in practice?
PS5 and PC players can pre-load from October 26 (PT) and start playing at unlock. Digital editions include pre-order bonuses (Treasure Basin accessory and Legacy outfit). The physical version will matter for collectors in 2027.
- Digital platforms: PS5 and PC (Steam/Epic)
- Approx. price: Standard ~$59.99 / Deluxe ~$69.99
- No Xbox or Switch version at launch
Phantom Blade Zero strengthens October 2026’s strong release calendar and global interest in authentic martial arts experiences in games.
