Persona 4 Revival at TGS 2026: Demo Sells Out Fast & Marie Social Link Revealed

On the first public day of the Tokyo Game Show 2026, the SEGA/Atlus booth in Hall 4 became the ultimate hotspot for anyone eager to see Persona 4 Revival up close. The demo queue ran out of morning tickets early on, the stage showcased Marie's Social Link, and the physical space went all-in on Teddie alongside a massive Izanagi statue.

What Happened at the Booth

The official Persona series X account reported that the test tickets for September 19 sold out around 9:34 AM in Japan. The same rush happened with other hot titles at the event, as reported by DenfaminicoGamer. Early visitors could choose between two roughly 15-minute modes: early story mode featuring the Midnight Channel's 'odd shopping mall', or dungeon exploration in Princess Yukiko's Castle with Shadow battles.

Famitsu described the center of the booth featuring an Izanagi statue, a giant TV, and a photo spot to pose like Teddie. Nikkei Gaming and DenfaminicoGamer also highlighted that the bear has become the visual mascot of the area—complete with a live mascot appearing at random times.

The Stage and Marie

During the 11:20 AM stage event, ZETA DIVISION streamers k4sen and Clutch_Fi played the trial version alongside Atlus's Daisuke Yajima. 4Gamer noted that the event marked the first public display of a Social Link event with Marie, a character introduced in Persona 4 Golden and voiced in Japan by Kana Hanazawa.

In the Persona series, a Social Link is the bond the protagonist builds with others over time. Leveling up these relationships unlocks cutscenes, combat perks, and stronger Personas of that Arcana. Showing Marie on stage matters because she is not just an extra: in the remake, she returns with newly recorded voice lines for every scene and an updated character model.

What This Means

Persona 4 Revival is a full remake of Persona 4 Golden. Atlus has already confirmed re-recorded voice lines, realistic proportion character models, rearranged BGM, and battle systems inherited from Persona 5 and Persona 3 Reload, such as Baton Pass and the Prime Time gauge. The main story follows Golden; the upgrade lies in the presentation and combat.

In a recent interview with Wccftech, the development team stated that maxing out all Social Links has been made slightly easier than in Golden, though it still isn't automatic. In short: the calendar remains the beating heart of the game.

In Practice

The game launches on February 18, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. The Nintendo Switch 2 version is slated for May 20, 2027. This Saturday night Brazil time (4:00 PM Pacific), Atlus will broadcast the second Persona 4 Revival Broadcast, focusing on the Investigation Team and new features. On Sunday, September 20, there will be a live stream celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Persona series, featuring singer Shiori Sasaki debuting new tracks for the remake.

TGS 2026 continues on Sunday, September 20. Monday, September 21, has been cancelled due to Typhoon 25, as previously announced by the organizers.
