Atlus revealed during the Persona 4 Revival TV livestream on Sunday that Ryotaro Okiayu is the new Japanese voice actor for Ryotaro Dojima in the Persona 4 Revival remake. He takes over the role of the detective originally played by Unsho Ishizuka, who passed away in 2018. During the same presentation, the studio showcased more characters from the Dojima household, detective Toru Adachi, and a brand-new feature called Location Episodes.
What happened?
Aside from Dojima, the broadcast confirmed the Japanese cast for Nanako Dojima (Akemi Kanda), Toru Adachi (Mitsuaki Madono), and Aika Nakamura (Aoi Yuki). Aika works making deliveries for the Aiya Chinese diner in the shopping district of Yasoinaba and is a childhood friend of Hanako Otani.
Location Episodes stem from a request by Aika. Players explore spots around Inaba with her, collect keepsake photos with companions, and by delivering these photos, discover how everyone spent their time in the city. This acts as an addition to the series' trademark social calendar rather than a replacement for Social Links—players still build bonds with the main cast in their daily lives.
Release Date and Platforms
Persona 4 Revival arrives on February 18, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Xbox (with Game Pass), and Steam. The Nintendo Switch 2 version is slated for May 20, 2027. The remake will feature a brand-new English voice cast, with animated cutscenes handled by studio MAPPA.
What does this mean?
Dojima is the protagonist's uncle and the detective investigating the Inaba murders. Recasting him was inevitable following Ishizuka's passing. Okiayu is a seasoned veteran—known as Byakuya Kuchiki in Bleach and Treize Khushrenada in Gundam Wing—and is expected to maintain the character's tired yet paternal tone. Location Episodes suggest Atlus wants to deepen everyday life in Yasoinaba without simply inflating combat. It is the same approach Persona 3 Reload took with extra events and quality-of-life updates.
Why it matters
Fans returning for the remake want to know if the Dojima household and the murder mystery remain at the heart of the story. Confirming Nanako, Adachi, and Dojima's new voice actor locks in an essential piece of the cast. Meanwhile, Location Episodes serve as the first concrete sign of extra town-exploration content since TGS 2026.
