Persona 30th EX: Persona 30th Anniversary Exhibition Set for Ueno Museum in 2027

The Persona series celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2026 and is getting its very own major exhibition: PERSONA 30th EX. The announcement dropped on Sunday (September 20) during a special anniversary livestream and was confirmed via an official statement from Kadokawa, with Atlus acting as a partner.

The event will take place at the Ueno Royal Museum (Ueno-no-Mori) in Tokyo, running from January 21 to February 7, 2027. The goal is to go far beyond a simple gallery wall: the exhibit will feature previously unseen materials and immersive zones that recreate the distinct atmosphere of the games—from everyday high school life and urban legends to the darker side of the human psyche that has defined the franchise since Megami Ibunroku Persona.

What happened?

The PERSONA 30th EX organizing committee and Kadokawa have confirmed the title, venue, and dates. The exhibition promises documents on display for the very first time alongside dedicated thematic spaces. There is also a mysterious teaser for the day before: on January 20, 2027, "something will happen" related to the showcase, though no further details were provided.

The official X (Twitter) account is @P30th_EX. The next wave of information is scheduled for October 23, 2026, at 7:00 PM JST.

Why does this matter?

Persona is no longer just a niche JRPG. Fueled by the massive success of Persona 5, Persona 3 Reload, and the upcoming Persona 4 Revival remake (slated for February 18, 2027, on PS5, Xbox, and PC), the series has become a true cultural showcase for Atlus. Hosting a museum exhibition in Ueno Park—right next to the Tokyo National Museum—treats the franchise as pop-culture heritage rather than just another shelf product.

The timing is hardly a coincidence: the exhibition wraps up just two weeks before the launch of Persona 4 Revival. Fans visiting Japan in January will be able to seamlessly chain the exhibition experience directly into their return trip to Inaba.

What this doesn't mean yet

There has been no announcement regarding an international tour. Furthermore, the mysterious "something" planned for January 20 shouldn't automatically be assumed as a confirmed public preview—it could be a press conference, a ticket lottery, or a closed event. Note that this exhibition is completely separate from the touring PERSONA Memoria event (covering Tokyo, Osaka, and Hakata) previously announced by Atlus.
