Overgeared Anime Drops New Trailer, Visual, and Cast Ahead of Premiere

The Overgeared anime (known in Japan as Tempal: Item no Chikara) dropped a brand new trailer, a promotional visual, and two casting additions this Sunday. Adapted from the hit Korean webtoon by Saenal Park, REDICE Studio, and Team Argo, the series premieres early on Prime Video in Japan on September 27, followed by its TV broadcast on October 2. Crunchyroll will stream the series worldwide alongside the Japanese broadcast.

What's new?

Alongside the trailer, the production committee announced Yūki Murata as Irene and Yurika Hirayama as Isabel. Grid will continue to be voiced by Tatsumaru Tachibana, with Asami Seto returning as Yura. The opening theme is 'SATISFY' by Re:name, while the ending theme is 'Ray of Emotion' by TAO.

The series is directed by Ayako Kono (Sword Art Online Progressive) at studio J.C.Staff. Scripts are handled by Kenta Ihara, character designs by Ryosuke Tanigawa, and music by Yoshiaki Fujisawa (Mushoku Tensei).

What is it about?

Youngwoo Shin is an average player stuck playing the VR MMORPG Satisfy. After inheriting a legendary blacksmith's legacy, he becomes Grid and grows in power not just through sheer strength, but through the incredible items he crafts. The original Korean title, Temppal, plays on the concept of 'winning through equipment.'

According to Nexon, the original web novel and webtoon have racked up roughly 1.3 billion views in Korea alone on KakaoPage. Yen Press publishes the English manhwa. Nexon is also developing an MMORPG based on the same IP, with a cinematic teaser released this week for Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

Why does it matter?

Following the massive success of Solo Leveling and Tower of God, Overgeared is yet another Korean VR fantasy webtoon receiving a high-profile Japanese anime adaptation. J.C.Staff is a powerhouse studio, and the Fall 2026 anime season is already gearing up for fierce competition. For fans of gacha games and MMOs, the classic underdog story of a noob rising to the top through crafting is an irresistible hook.

The details

In Japan, TV broadcasts begin on October 2 at 11:30 PM JST on Tokyo MX and BS11. Local Prime Video subscribers will get early access to the first episodes five days prior.
