Order of the Sinking Star is out on PC, PS5 and Switch 2 for $29.99

Order of the Sinking Star is available now. Jonathan Blow's puzzle game, from the director of Braid and The Witness, launched on October 8, 2026 on PC via Steam and Steam Deck, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 for $29.99. Order of the Sinking Star is Blow's first new game since The Witness.

What happened?

Arc Games and Thekla, Inc. confirmed the launch in a statement carried by specialist outlets. The game was announced at The Game Awards in December 2025 and spent about a decade in development. The pitch for Order of the Sinking Star is an interconnected world with more than a thousand handcrafted puzzles and hundreds of hours of play.

The official Steam page describes a puzzle adventure in a realm of magic and monsters, with mechanics that combine across the campaign. The game's Wikipedia entry notes that it was built in Jai, a language created by Blow's own studio, and that it is single-player only. The release date was set in August on the Steam news hub.

Why it matters

Jonathan Blow is a reference point for authored puzzle design. Braid, from 2008, helped establish independent games on the Xbox 360 generation. The Witness, from 2016, became a design case study for hiding rules inside the environment itself. Order of the Sinking Star arrives at the same time on Switch 2, a platform still building its slate of notable releases, alongside recent ports such as the Kingdom Hearts Collection.

The $29.99 price also stands out: it is lower than many current AA games, even with the promise of a long experience. To mark the launch, Steam is offering three bundles at 10% off: with Mewgenics, with Animal Well, and with the original soundtrack, which can also be bought separately.

What changes in practice?

Anyone who played the Steam Next Fest demo in June can buy the full version of Order of the Sinking Star now. The title is on PC, Steam Deck, PS5 and Switch 2. There is no Xbox version announced so far.
