OpenAI and ServiceNow expand partnership: plugin brings workflows to ChatGPT

The OpenAI ServiceNow partnership was expanded on October 28, 2026, building on the January agreement. The main novelty is a ServiceNow MCP plugin available in the OpenAI marketplace that brings business context and workflow actions into ChatGPT.

With the integration, an IT team member can find similar incidents, assess change risks, and update ServiceNow records without leaving the ChatGPT conversation. Actions respect existing permissions and business rules via ServiceNow’s Action Fabric.

The companies also plan collaborations in three areas: Codex integration in the AI Workflow Factory for application development with ServiceNow context; a joint cybersecurity solution combining OpenAI capabilities with ServiceNow asset and identity data; and a voice experience in the Super Intelligence Control Tower to describe AI use cases and populate risk assessments.

Internally, ServiceNow plans to offer ChatGPT Work and Codex to all employees, beyond the engineering organization. OpenAI will also use ServiceNow workflows in its own operations.

The plugin is available today. Enhanced capabilities are expected by the end of 2026. Voice features are planned for the first quarter of 2027, and security capabilities for early access in January 2027, with general availability in the second quarter.
