Nintendo has revealed more details about the Ocarina of Time Switch 2 remake, including the new Hall of Fallen Foes area where players can view statues of defeated enemies and rematch bosses. The game launches on November 5, 2026, exclusively on Switch 2.
What happened?
In an overview trailer published on October 14, Nintendo showcased the Hall of Fallen Foes in the Ocarina of Time Switch 2 remake, a gallery or museum-style space where statues of defeated monsters appear as the player progresses. Examining a statue provides enemy descriptions, combat tips, and locations. For bosses like King Dodongo, players can start a timed rematch to improve personal times.
The Ocarina of Time Switch 2 remake modernizes the 1998 Nintendo 64 classic with completely overhauled visuals, fully voiced cutscenes with expanded dialogue, symphonic orchestral score, traditional camera controls, jump button, dash, and music recognition via the Switch 2 microphone (including humming or using a physical ocarina).
Why is this important?
Ocarina of Time is one of the most influential games in history and marks the 40th anniversary of the Zelda series. The Ocarina of Time Switch 2 remake, described as a faithful interpretation using modern technology, makes the title more accessible to new players while adding quality-of-life and replayability features for longtime fans. The Hall of Fallen Foes expands on the Boss Challenge idea from the 3DS version.
Integration with Zelda Notes in the Nintendo Switch app enables quizzes, quests, and progress tracking. New Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo arrive in 2027.
What changes in practice?
Players will get a smoother experience with modern controls and high-quality visuals on Switch 2. The rematch feature in the Hall of Fallen Foes allows practicing tough fights without restarting the game, and voice/music recognition adds a unique interactive layer. Digital price is $59.99, physical $69.99. Estimated file size 27 GB.
