The anime of The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn't a Guy at All premieres in Japan on January 8, 2027. The trailer and date arrived on October 8, after the New York Comic Con presentation. Crunchyroll had already confirmed it will stream the series at premiere.

Cast and opening

Masashi Ishihama directs at CloverWorks, with series composition by Rino Yamasaki and character designs by Kanna Hirayama. Mariya Ise voices Mitsuki Koga and Akari Kito voices Aya Osawa. Newly announced cast includes Kenjiro Tsuda (Jo), Tasuku Hatanaka (Megumu Narita), Yurina Amami (Chizuru), Fairouz Ai (Mao), and Maiko Nomura (Kanna).

The opening is Nirvana's Breed. Sumiko Arai's manga started on X in 2022, continues on Pixiv Comic, and has been in print from Kadokawa since April 2023, with four volumes in Japan.
