Null-Meta anime in 2027 directed by Kai Ikarashi of Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2

Aniplex announced on Sunday, October 18, 2026, that Kokamumo’s Null-Meta manga will receive a television anime adaptation in 2027.

Kai Ikarashi, director of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, takes the helm of the project at studio Soigne. Tatsuya Takahashi handles series composition and Shin Ogasawara is in charge of character design.

What is Null-Meta

Null-Meta is a four-panel slice-of-life comedy manga that follows the high school life of four girls: Kurumi, the “really dumb” android; Chiaki, her somewhat crazy guardian; Sakina, calm and easily amused; and Shiyuki, the only “sane” one in the group. The story revolves around them remodeling and pampering Kurumi while talking about nothing in particular.

The manga began serialization in 2020 in Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara Max magazine. The sixth compiled volume was released in January of this year.

Connection to Edgerunners

The choice of Kai Ikarashi as director draws attention because Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 premieres tomorrow, October 20, on Netflix. While Edgerunners 2 is a standalone cyberpunk action story set in Night City, Null-Meta is a light everyday comedy. The transition shows the director’s versatility and Aniplex’s interest in projects of different styles.

A teaser visual was released along with the opening of an official website and X account. There is still no precise premiere date within 2027 or details on the number of episodes.
